Chef Works has spent decades outfitting culinary professionals. The Ridgewood Apron is their most considered piece yet — a garment that holds up through service without asking to be noticed.
The brief was to make that legible on screen. Not to pitch the apron. To show what it means to wear it — and to make films that the people wearing it would actually respect.
Every frame was designed to let the apron do the work. No excessive styling, no trend-chasing — deliberate composition, practical light, and talent who understood what they were wearing. The palette came from working kitchen environments: matte surfaces, worn steel, the warm-dark of a well-used prep station.
As Co-Director, I held the visual thread across all three films so they read as a single essay, not a collection of spots.
Three films. One visual argument. Made for people who already know the difference.
Culinary professionals are a skeptical audience. They've seen the version of this ad that reaches for the lifestyle and misses the work. The writing went the other direction: specificity over sentiment, material over metaphor. The copy names techniques without explaining them, and ends where the viewer's own experience picks up.
